Goku (孫 悟空, Son Gokū), born Kakarot (カカロット, Kakarotto), is the main protagonist of the Dragon Ball metaseries created by Akira Toriyama. He is the adoptive grandson of Grandpa Gohan, the husband of Chi-Chi, the father of Gohan and Goten, the grandfather ofPan and later the great-great-grandfather of Goku Jr.
Cheerful, courageous and also quite naive, Goku is a Saiyanoriginally sent to Earth as an infant with the mission to destroy it. However, an accident alters this, causing him to later become Earth's greatest defender and the informal leader of the Z Fighters.[10]Throughout his life, he trains hard and strives to be the greatest warrior possible, while at the same time using his amazing strength and skills to uphold peace.[13]

孫 悟飯, Son Gohan) is the first son of the series' primary protagonist Goku and his wife Chi-Chi, the older brother of Goten, the husband of Videl and father to Pan. Gohan is the first hybrid (halfHuman, half Saiyan) to appear in the series. He is named after Goku's adoptive grandfather, Gohan.
Unlike his father, Gohan lacks a passion for fighting and prefers to do so only when the need to defend his loved ones arises.[1]Nevertheless, Gohan fights alongside the Z Fighters in the defense ofEarth for much of his life. He eventually settles down with a family at the end of Dragon Ball Z, opting for the life of scholar instead.[2]
